Behavior & Support Policy (Connection Before Correction)

At G.E.M. CLASS, we view behavior as communication of an unmet need. Our approach prioritizes connection, safety, and skill-building over punishment.

We support learners through:

• Co-regulation and emotional support

• Redirection toward appropriate choices

• Sensory and movement-based breaks

• Gentle, respectful guidance

Our goal is to help each child develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, and positive social interactions.

If a child is unable to remain safe or participate in a way that supports the group, we will:

• Provide additional support and space as needed

• Communicate with the parent/guardian

• Collaborate on strategies to best support the child

In some cases, if a child’s needs require more individualized support than we are able to provide in a group setting, we may discuss alternative options to ensure the best experience for both the child and the group.

Participation in any G.E.M. CLASS experiences, events, or offerings constitutes acknowledgment and agreement to this Behavior & Support Policy
